Microsoft has updated its Xbox Game Pass subscription service with a fresh lineup of games just in time for the holiday season. The most prominent addition is Mortal Kombat 1, the latest installment in the iconic fighting franchise known for its brutal and visceral combat. This launch underscores the increasing appeal of Game Pass as a platform for delivering high-profile titles directly to subscribers.
What Xbox Game Pass Offers
Xbox Game Pass provides access to a vast library of hundreds of games across multiple platforms, including Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and even mobile devices. Subscription tiers start at $10 per month, with the premium Game Pass Ultimate ($30/month) offering the most extensive selection, including day-one access to major releases like Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. This model is reshaping how gamers consume content, shifting away from outright purchases toward a subscription-based model.
New Games Now Available
Several other titles have also been added to the Game Pass roster:
- Lost Records: Bloom & Rage: A narrative adventure from Don’t Nod (Life is Strange ), delving into the long-held secrets of a group of friends.
- Monster Train 2: The sequel to the strategic deck-building roguelike, offering deeper customization and dynamic battles.
- Routine: A first-person sci-fi horror game, finally released after over a decade in development, set in an abandoned lunar base.
- Death Howl: A unique blend of soulslike and deck-building mechanics, where players take on the role of a grieving mother on a mythic quest.
- Dome Keeper: A roguelike survival miner where players must defend their dome from relentless alien attacks.
The Crew Motorfest and Ongoing Updates
The Crew Motorfest is set to launch on Game Pass on November 20, offering expansive open-world racing across the Hawaiian Islands with over 700 vehicles. This addition highlights Microsoft’s commitment to providing ongoing content updates and new experiences through the service.
Games Leaving Game Pass
As with all subscription services, some titles are being removed from Game Pass to make room for new additions. The following games will be departing in December:
- Mortal Kombat 11 (December 15)
- Still Wakes the Deep (December 15)
- Wildfrost (December 15)
- Carrion (December 31)
- Hell Let Loose (December 31)
Subscribers are encouraged to play these titles before their removal if they wish to continue accessing them.
The continued expansion of Xbox Game Pass signals a broader trend in the gaming industry toward subscription-based access, offering consumers greater value and flexibility while reshaping the traditional model of individual game purchases.
