Fi, a leading smart pet technology firm, unveiled its new AI chatbot, Fi Intelligence, on Tuesday. This tool is designed to provide dog owners with data-driven insights into their pet’s health, leveraging a combination of personalized data and breed-specific information. The development reflects a growing trend towards tech-enabled pet care, as owners increasingly seek ways to proactively monitor and understand their animals’ well-being.
How Fi Intelligence Works
The chatbot is integrated directly into the Fi app and draws upon all data collected from Fi’s smart collars (Series 3 Plus and Fi Mini) along with any additional information uploaded by the owner. Unlike generic AI assistants, Fi Intelligence has been trained on a vast dataset of canine activity, sleep, and behavior patterns, making it uniquely suited for answering pet-related questions.
Users can ask questions in plain English, such as whether their dog is getting enough exercise or if excessive scratching is a concern. The AI then responds with detailed analyses, comparing the dog’s current data to historical trends and to that of other dogs of the same breed. The chatbot is intended for dogs only, with no support currently available for other pets.
Bridging the Gap Between Owners and Vets
Fi emphasizes that Fi Intelligence is not a substitute for veterinary care. Instead, it aims to help owners arrive at vet appointments better prepared, armed with weeks of continuous, documented observations. According to Darrell Stone, VP of Product at Fi, beta testing showed that owners weren’t using the tool to avoid vets but to enhance the quality of their consultations.
“The strongest signal from our beta was that owners aren’t using this to replace their vet. They’re using it to show up better prepared.”
The Future of Pet Health Monitoring
The launch of Fi Intelligence underscores the increasing role of technology in pet care. As wearable devices for animals become more sophisticated, AI-powered tools like this will likely become standard for proactive health management. This trend raises questions about data privacy and the potential for algorithmic bias, but the immediate benefit is clear: owners now have a more informed way to track and understand their dogs’ well-being.
The tool serves as a signal that pet healthcare is going digital — and that owners are increasingly looking to technology to help them stay on top of their animal companions’ health.
