Apple’s latest iOS 26.4 update brings several improvements, ranging from a more accurate keyboard to new features within Apple Music and Podcasts. While the update includes eight new emojis – including the much-anticipated Bigfoot – the practical changes offer more substantial value for users.
Enhanced Keyboard Accuracy
One of the most notable fixes addresses frequent typos when typing quickly on iPhones. Apple’s release notes confirm an improvement to keyboard accuracy, which should reduce frustration for those who rely heavily on mobile messaging. This is a welcome adjustment, as keyboard errors have been a persistent pain point for many iPhone users.
Apple Music Concert Discovery and Resale Integration
The update introduces a feature that displays upcoming local concerts directly within Apple Music. This integration goes beyond mainstream artists; even smaller acts like Jimmy Eat World are now listed. However, the system directs users to Bandsintown, which often leads to overpriced resale tickets—a common issue in the live music industry.
AI-Powered Playlist Generation
Apple Music also gains “Playlist Playground,” an AI tool that generates playlists based on user prompts. A test case requesting “music for being angry about missing a Jimmy Eat World concert” produced a playlist featuring early 2000s emo-rock bands like Saves The Day and Taking Back Sunday. The feature is currently in beta, but is available to all Apple Music subscribers, including those on Android.
Podcasts Video Support and Accessibility Improvements
The Podcasts app now supports video playback for shows that offer it. Beyond this, the update also brings accessibility enhancements, including settings to reduce bright effects and animation for users sensitive to visual stimuli. A new ambient music widget provides quick access to calming sounds.
The iOS 26.4 update delivers incremental but meaningful improvements across several key apps. While the emoji additions grab attention, the underlying fixes—particularly the keyboard accuracy and music discovery features—will likely be the most appreciated changes for many users.
