Replacing a dead laptop sucks. Losing earbuds feels worse. Paying full price? Unacceptable.
Memorial Day is usually good for discounts on big electronics. And mattresses. But digging through the noise is tedious. Retailers love to inflate list prices just so the “sale” looks real. It’s insulting, really.
So I sifted through the garbage. Looked for actual discounts on gear Mashable actually respects. No warehouse clear-outs of broken junk. Just stuff that works.
Headphones: Skip the flagship, save money
Nothing Headphone (a) is the pick here. Why? It costs less. Performs better in key ways. The reviewer gave it 4.3/5 stars. She thinks it beats the flagship Headphone (1) because it has the same app experience and solid noise cancellation. But it fits better. And lasts longer—135 hours without ANC. That’s a long time.
The design is retro. It looks fun. Amazon is slashing 15% off, hitting a record low.
Sony WH-1000 XM5 is cheap right too. $248 down from nearly $400. If you need industry-leading silence, that’s your guy. The newer XM6 is barely cheaper, though. Not worth the jump.
Anker Soundcore makes good cheap buds. The P31i is under $35 now.
Apple AirPods 4 are $99. Still overpriced for what they are. But the Pro 3 with noise cancellation is a safer bet for $229.
Speakers: Tiny and loud
Bose’s SoundLink Micro is back. Smaller version of a favorite. $99 for rich sound and 12-hour battery. It even has a strap for backpacks or bike handles. Colors matter. Pick one you like.
Want more oomph? Marshall Emberton III is $50 off.
The Sonos Move 2 is $400 now. Big savings for a portable speaker that can handle Wi-Fi streaming too.
Laptops: The M5 era begins
The MacBook Air (13-inch) is $100 cheaper on Amazon. $999 for the base model. Not the lowest price ever. It was cheaper in April. But it’s close. The M5 chip inside makes this a faster, better machine than the old M1 models.
Don’t buy the “Neo” version on sale for $10. It’s not the one to get.
Looking at 15 inches? The larger Air drops $150.
For pros, the 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,499. The base spec. If you want 1TB storage, that price holds. The beast with M5 Pro? It’s $2,399. A steal compared to its MSRP, but still expensive.
TVs: Massive screens for cheap prices
The Amazon Ember 4-Series (50-inch) is $309. That’s for a 2025 model. 23% off is decent. Get free Xbox GamePass if you sign up new.
But look lower in the list. Hisense is cutting prices aggressively.
A 55-inch Hi-QLED is under $280. That feels like 2020 pricing.
The Toshiba Z670? 100 inches. Mini-LED. Fire TV built-in. It was nearly $4,000. Now $2,299.
Are you sure your wall can hold a 100-inch TV? Maybe ask an engineer before you buy.
Smaller options? The Hisense S7 canvas-style TV drops $900. Yes. Nine hundred. That changes how it looks.
Smartwatches: The underrated king
The CMF Watch 3 Pro from Nothing wins on value. Period. $99. Usually more, now 30% off. It tracks sleep, health, fitness. Lasts 13 days on a charge. That beats the Apple Watch every week.
It isn’t sleek. It isn’t premium materials. It works. Reviewer Lauren Allain says Nothing is underselling it.
If you want shiny, the Apple Watch Series 11 is $100 off.
Streaming sticks and security: Under $30
Amazon Fire TV Sticks are bleeding prices. Use the codes. They matter.
4K Stick : Enter SELECT4K at checkout. Drops to nearly $30? Check. It’s 63% off. Harder to find this price in July.
The basic HD Stick is $18. Code: SAVEHD.
Home security? Blink cameras are dirt cheap. The Mini is $15. The 2K+ Outdoor is $65. Not top-tier resolution maybe, but for a driveway? It works.
Deals don’t last. Neither does Memorial Day weekend. Buy now, regret later? Or just be glad you saved money. Your wallet decides.
